J. Wayne Bystrom is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he earned the William Emlen Cresson Memorial Traveling Scholarship, the institutions highest honor. In addition, J. Wayne Bystrom is one of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts most award winning graduates.

J.Wayne Bystrom continues to achieve critical acclaim for his figurative oil paintings. Successful exhibits in prominent galleries in New York, Phila., and Washington, ,D.C. have confirmed his growing reputation as one of America's leading realist painters.

Wayne’s classical training and experience distinguish his work from his peers. His incorporation of classical technique to contemporary painting has started a resurgence of interest in sophisticated color management and design.

J. Wayne Bystrom's works have appeared on covers of numerous periodicals, both national and international. Wayne has made his personal success his communities as well. His contributions of works and time to the Philadelphia homeless, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Lancaster Farmland Trust have helped make a difference.
