I grew up in central Pennsylvania and as a child loved animals and loved to draw. I began painting professionally nearly 20 years ago using landscapes, local architectural landmarks, animals and people as my subjects. Several years ago, at the advice of a gallery owner and friend, I chose to focus my time and attention to what I love most and do best - equine and animal art.
My work has been accepted and has won awards in the fall show of the Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, Kentucky. My work has also received the "Best Draft Horse Theme Award" and numerous "First Place in Watercolor" awards in the Art At The Classic show at the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, California. I am a member of the Susquehanna Art Society, The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and am an exhibiting member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Club Society.
I work primarily in watercolor but also like the drama of realistically rendered graphite drawings. I am inspired by the horse - it's beauty, it's fire, it's nobility - and I am happiest either wandering through the stables and paddocks at a horse show or settling in with paper, brush, and paint to capture the essence of those moments.
